PSO: Arts & Culture in the Hill District Sept. 23 - 24







Saturday, September 23, 2017– A Weekend of Art & Culture in the Hill District; Cassatt and Cliff Sts
Experience art, music, film, culture, and fun in the Hill District celebrating arts and August Wilson’s Legacy.  Activities will include storytelling, nature activities with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, artist activities, and music by four members of the Pittsburgh Symphony performing in August Wilson Park.  A video projection of a film by Bradford Young will be projected onto August Wilson’s childhood home provided by the Carnegie Museum of Art.

A creative intersection of music, art, and spoken word
In anticipation of the BNY Mellon Grand Classic 3 program featuring Shostakovich Symphony No. 5, the Clarion String Quartet, comprised of members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, will perform in this beautiful community space on the Northside.  Associate Conductor AndrĂ©s Franco will host this first session in of a series of five, bringing music and poetry together for an evening of performance and dialogue around the ways creativity thrives in times of political strife and oppression. City of Asylum artist and internationally renowned poet Anzhelina Polonskaya will share her work via Skype, as well as her creative process and challenges.  Visit www.pittsburghsymphony.org for more information.
