PSO in the Community: BRITE

As part of our Music and Wellness Program, two musicians, Karissa Zadinsky, cello, and Brandon McLean, bass, presented to the members of the BRiTE program.  This new program is offered to a limited number of seniors with mild cognitive deficits. The Brain Training and Exercise (BRiTE) program aims to improve health and wellness through activities in music, movement, art, and meditation. The University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center along with the Department of Occupational Therapy recently introduced this non-pharmacological approach to help stimulate cognitive, behavioral and physical functions and reduce frailty, increase strength and endurance, and improve stability and balance. We are happy to play a part of this new program and be part of this important work.

We look forward to our upcoming November performances:
