“Sounds of Summer on Centre” at the Kauffman Center

Hill District community advisors and PSO staff have met to finalize programming for the July 31 concert. The evening will feature a mostly string orchestra under the baton of Associate Conductor AndrĂ©s Franco and will include performances by multiple area artists and poets.

Vocalist Anqwenique will perform Giordani’s Caro Mio Ben as a tribute to the late O’Labrice Beckom, opera singer and beloved Hill House vocal instructor, as well as selections from Daniel Roumaine’s On the Edge of Night with lyrics by Pittsburgh poet Yona Harvey.

Additional highlights include Hill District native Monica Ellis from Imani Winds performing the first movement of Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto and readings by Ujaama Collective poetry students. All ticket proceeds from this concert will benefit Hill House Association after school programming.
