Foxburgh for Music!

Allegheny Riverstone Center for the Arts in Foxburg, PA, presents a series of concerts in Lincoln Hall. Last Sunday's program was Romantic Russia: Rhapsodies of Spring.

Duquesne University's David Allen Wehr, holder of the Jack W. Geltz Distinguished Piano Chair at Mary Pappert School of Music, led off the series with Fantasy Pieces for Piano, Op. 3 (Including the Prelude in C Sharp Minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Lorna McGhee, principal flute with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Mr. Wehr followed with Sonata in D Major for Flute and Piano, Op. 94.

Concluding the bravo performance were Anne Martindale Williams, principal cello of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Mr. Wehr with Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 19 by Rachmaninoff.

Artists in the spring series have included have included Alexander String Quartet, Jakobs Ferry Stragglers and, May 19, organist Ken Double.
