Flat-out opulence is the leitmotif of the season's most exciting holiday home tour. Adding a higher octave to the festivities, a bevy of architectural treasures will be opening their art-and-antique-laden doors for the very first time to benefit the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Glorious showplaces, located just minutes apart on this self-driving tour, will be beribboned and bedecked to a Christmas fare-the-well. Adding to the Yuletide spirit, classical musicians will be entertaining in each home.

"This holiday fanfare tour, presented by the Pittsburgh Symphony Association, has become our most successful fundraiser. Now in its fifth year, the event has raised $500,000 for our community treasure, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. As an added treat, many PSO musicians will be playing in various homes throughout the tour," says event chair Cathy Trombetta. There are now seven confirmed homes on tour.

NEW THIS YEAR: At one of the homes there will be a food tent where Atria's will supply food for sale, also benefiting PSO.

BUS TOUR: Although this year's tour is designed as a self-driving event, for those with special needs or those who wish the convenience of parking at one location and being chauffered from one home to another, an escorted bus tour ticket will be available as a $25 separate purchase. RESERVATIONS FOR THE BUS MUST BE MADE NO LATER THAN NOV. 15.

For a profusion of joy and the best holiday gift, treat yourself, your family and friends to a lavish Christmas fantasy while supporting our world-class PSO. It's also a perfect way to pick up decorating ideas for your own home.

Programs with a tour map of addresses will be issued to ticket holders and same-day buyers at registration, which will be through the center door entrance at Upper St. Clair High School, 1825 McLaughlin Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241.
